‘The View’ Host Joy Behar Makes Claim About Chris Christie That Won’t Sit Well With GOP Voters

“The View” co-host Joy Behar said something during a podcast on Tuesday that likely ended any chance, however remote, that former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie had at securing the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

She sat for an interview with the show’s executive producer, Brian Teta, for an episode of “The View: Behind the Table” to discuss the premier of the 27th season of the program, as well as co-host Whoopi Goldberg getting COVID again, and the outlook in the month’s ahead as the election season begins.

“The election is heating up now. We’re into it in a way that we haven’t been in the last two seasons. Who do you want to talk to coming up on this season? Who are you excited about having in there?” Teta asked, according to Mediaite.

“I want to talk to all those Republicans who were in that debate, and I have questions for them,” Behar said. “I want to say to Chris Christie, ‘Sir, you have been a champion to the left right now because you have told the truth about Donald Trump.’

“So when they asked you, would you vote for him, why were you hesitant in raising your hand? Why don’t you just raise your damn hand and say, I’m going to vote for him if that’s what you believe? That won’t please me, but that’s the truth. Then do it,” she continued.

She went on to say that all the other candidates save for former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchison, who is polling in the basement with GOP voters, raised their hand to say they would support Trump if he becomes the nominee.

“Even after we know that he has committed all these crimes, that he is an insurrectionist, that he is trying to overthrow this government, that he is doing something that no president has ever done before, that he’s the only president that has a mugshot, for Christ’s sakes,” Behar added.

“And yet they said they would vote for him. That is pathetic and really unacceptable. Unforgivable. And I want them on this show,” Behar said.

It’s important to note that Behar’s claims are unproven; Trump has been charged with several crimes, but he’s not been convicted of anything. Also, he has not been charged with “sedition” or “insurrection.”

Last month, Fox News host and former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany had harsh words for Christie over a campaign strategy she believes won’t get him anywhere with the Republican base.

Christie, a former federal prosecutor known for frequently criticizing McEnany’s former boss, Trump, has been lauding the Biden Justice Department and the FBI, despite their unprecedented targeting of the former president. Trump has faced multiple indictments, including one for an alleged offense — mishandling classified documents — that President Joe Biden himself has faced accusations of committing.

Earlier on Fox News, Christie said in reference to FBI Director Christopher Wray’s testimony before a House committee earlier in the day: “I did recommend him to President Trump, and I’m proud that I did.”

“Those things they’re talking about today, and the director made this point over and over again, are all things from when Jim Comey, Eric Holder, and Loretta Lynch were in charge of the Justice Department — before he got put in charge,” Christie said. “He fired the entire Comey leadership team out of the FBI, they’re all gone.”

He added: “So yeah, I think Chris Wray has done a very good job, and I think a lot of the stuff you see today is theater, people trying to raise money for campaigns.”

After Christie’s recent defense of Wray, McEnany said during a segment on “Outnumbered” that it won’t win over many Republicans, let alone supporters of Trump.

“Best of luck to Chris Christie with that message in a GOP primary, which has tremendous distrust for the FBI,” she said.

After noting that Wray has made some positive changes and done some good things at the bureau, she also said much of what is wrong today he hasn’t addressed.

“There’s a lot of questions for him — this ‘radical traditionalist Catholic’ memo which he rescinded, he said he was ‘aghast’ by it. But yet he won’t allow the authors of that before Congress,” she added.

“None of this instills confidence in the American people, many of whom have distrust for the FBI.”

Jack Smith Complains Trump Is Tainting Jury Pool With Daily Statements

Special counsel Jack Smith complained in a court filing on Tuesday that former President Donald Trump’s statements in his alleged election interference case were tainting a potential jury pool.

Smith wrote in his filing in a DC court that Trump’s “daily extrajudicial statements could threaten to prejudice the jury pool” in his case.

“The allegation arose in a court fight that remains largely under seal, so additional details are not public. The brief reference to Trump’s statements affecting the jury pool at the Washington, DC, courthouse came in a public filing in the federal criminal case,” CNN reported.

The outlet added: “Smith’s office has been sparring with Trump’s team over how much of the underlying sealed dispute should be made public. Prosecutors tried earlier Tuesday to file court documents partially under seal – and partially on the public docket. But Trump’s team argued that the filings should not be posted to the court’s public docket until they have 14 days to respond – the amount of time set out by default court rules.”

Smith’s team fired back: “Such a requirement would grind litigation in this case to a halt, which is particularly infeasible given the pressing matters before the Court — including the defendant’s daily extrajudicial statements that threaten to prejudice the jury pool in this case, as described in the Government’s motion.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan has directed both parties to submit further legal briefs regarding the posting of the underlying Smith submission on the docket. The deadline for the Trump brief is September 11, and prosecutors are required to file a reply brief by September 13, CNN noted.

She also said either party could file their brief under seal.

Previously, Chutkan ordered the trial to begin on March 4, 2024, after Trump’s team sought to extend the date past next year’s presidential election and into 2026.

A growing number of legal experts on the left and right are coming to Trump’s defense after Smith filed felony charges against the former president over alleged actions stemming from the Capitol riot.

In an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Georgetown Law School professor Jonathan Turley suggested that the Biden administration’s ongoing persecution of Trump is wearing thin with a sizeable portion of the American public that increasingly sees the cases as entirely political.

“This is a free speech-killing indictment. There’s no way around it. I write a great deal in academia in the free-speech area, and I have rarely seen a more chilling filing by the Department of Justice,” Turley said.

“The question that people have to ask themselves is, when is the price too high? People are enraged, but what is the price too high to bag Donald Trump? This indictment is a prohibitive cost. Meaning what they are attempting to do is criminalize what they consider to be disinformation,” he added.

“And I have to tell you, this indictment is a really sad moment for me. I hoped that Smith is going to indict on January 6th, that he would find unassailable evidence and unquestioned legal authority. He has neither in this indictment,” Turley added.

“This is a speaking indictment but it doesn’t say very much. It just says that we think Trump is lying and that he didn’t believe this. I can’t tell you how faciously ridiculous this claim is. It starts by saying, of course, you can say false things in the campaign, but then says that Trump knew they were false. Is that the test going forward in terms of criminalizing political speech?” Turley, a noted liberal, continued.

“Smith is just not only going to have to just bulldoze through the First Amendment, he’s going to have to bulldoze through a line of cases by the Supreme Court,” he said.

Biden Fact-Checked After Claiming Trump ‘Didn’t Build A Damned Thing’ As President

President Joe Biden was savaged — again — on social media after making a patently false claim about his predecessor, Donald Trump, during the former president’s time in office.

During a speech in front of union members over the Labor Day holiday, Biden claimed that during Trump’s tenure, he “didn’t build a damned thing” while touting his record of signing massive infrastructure spending bills into law, which, some economists have claimed, made inflation worse.

“Guess what? Guess what? The great real estate builder, the last guy here, he didn’t build a damn thing,” Biden told the Sheet Metal Workers Local 19 members at their union hall in Philadelphia.

“Under my predecessor, ‘Infrastructure Week’ became a punchline,” he continued. “On my watch, infrastructure is being a decade and it’s a headline.”

He went on to claim that “we’re investing in America — in our roads, bridges, ports, airports, clean water, high-speed internet and so much more.”

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy countered in April 2021 that the first massive spending bill of more than $1 trillion only allotted 6 percent of the amount to actual infrastructure.

All said, however, in addition to building hundreds of miles of border wall, spending bills signed into law by then-President Trump included federal money for all kinds of infrastructure throughout the 50 states.

Not all Democrats have been on board Biden’s massive spending plans.

Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema were not budging on Biden’s $3.5 trillion spending package he attempted to jam through in the fall of 2021. According to Politico, Manchin and Sinema had back-to-back meetings with Biden at the time, and they apparently did not go well.

“During a private meeting with the president, Sinema made clear she’s still not on board with the party’s $3.5 trillion social spending plan and is hesitant to engage on some specifics until the bipartisan infrastructure package passes the House,” Politico reported.

“This is the third time she said she has told the president, ‘I’m not there,’” a person familiar with the talks between Sinema and Biden told Politico.

Sinema reportedly told Biden: “I’ve been very clear with you from the start.”

Politico noted further:

Sinema and Manchin’s approach to the negotiations has frozen Biden’s jobs and families plan and potentially may lead to a high-profile failure of a bipartisan infrastructure bill on the House floor as progressives threaten rebellion. But without more details from the moderate duo, any hope of a bicameral agreement on Biden’s agenda is a pipe dream.

Manchin and Sinema met with Biden separately Tuesday, the second time in less than a week that they paid a visit to the White House to lay out their concerns and haggle with the president over reducing Democrats’ plans to spend $3.5 trillion. Sinema also returned to the White House twice more to hash out details with staff as Manchin huddled separately with Biden for more than an hour.

Democrats expressed angst over their holdouts.

“What I know is that the longer these debates hang out there the easier it is for the opposition to mislabel and twist what we’re trying to do. If we’re going to come to an agreement it would behoove us to do it sooner rather than later so that we can go out and start explaining it to people,” Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy said.

“I’m worried my colleagues are going to shoot themselves in the foot. We should find a solid number and move on,” said one Senate Democrat, who spoke under condition of anonymity to Politico.

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin is also complaining: “We’re reaching a point where we need to bring this to closure. I think that’s obvious. We have four major challenges on us at once: Funding the government, dealing with the debt ceiling, bipartisan infrastructure bill, and reconciliation. That’s a big agenda. I think a breakthrough on one of those will help.”

Biden Denies Taking Part In Son’s Alleged Shakedown Of Chinese Businessman

President Joe Biden denied taking part in his son’s alleged shakedown of a Chinese businessman recently revealed in a 2017 WhatsApp message.

Reporters questioned Biden over the WhatsApp message, revealed last week by IRS whistleblowers who investigated the president’s son’s tax affairs, at the White House on Wednesday. The president has so far refused to comment at length about the message that allegedly ties him with his son’s dealings with foreign agents.

“How involved were you in your son’s Chinese shake-down text message? Were you sitting there? Were you involved?” a reporter asked the president.

Biden responded: “No, I wasn’t.”

On Monday, in response to another reporter’s question, Biden reiterated his claim that he has never spoken with his son about business. A statement from the White House counsel’s office released last week in response to the revelation in the WhatsApp message hedged the president’s stance, however.
“As we have said many times before, the President was not in business with his son,” said Ian Sams, spokesman for the White House counsel’s office.

The president’s claim that he had never spoken with his son, Hunter, about business as Hunter struck deals overseas — in China, Romania, and Ukraine as his father oversaw U.S. diplomacy in the country — has long been in doubt. Last year, a voicemail left by the elder Biden for his son suggested that the president spoke with Hunter about his business affairs in 2018 in connection with a story from The New York Times.

IRS agents investigating Hunter Biden revealed his alleged WhatsApp message in testimony to the House as part of an attempt to blow the whistle on what the IRS agents say is an effort to stall and thwart the Hunter Biden investigation from the Department of Justice. The agents said the message was sent on July 30, 2017, from Hunter Biden to Henry Zhao, an executive at the Chinese energy company CEFC.

“I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight,” Hunter allegedly wrote to Zhao.

Less than ten days after that message was allegedly sent, CEFC-associated accounts wired more than $5 million to accounts associated with Hunter Biden.

The IRS whistleblower testimony has sparked talk of impeachment on Capitol Hill focusing on Attorney General Merrick Garland, who allegedly improperly interfered in the Hunter Biden investigation, and President Biden.

Hunter Biden Forced to Answer Questions About Finances in Child Support Case

Through his attorneys, first son Hunter Biden has refused for months to provide specifics to an Arkansas court about his finances in a child support case brought by the mother of a child he fathered more than four years ago.

However, Biden has finally provided those details after the judge overseeing the case intimated she would order him jailed for contempt of court if he continued to defy her instructions.

What’s more, according to an exclusive report by the UK’s Daily Mail, the mother, Lunden Roberts, showed up in person to hear Biden’s testimony.

The move “would crank up the pressure on the Biden scion as Roberts’ attorneys prepared to grill him under oath about his earnings from secretive business deals in Ukraine, China, and elsewhere,” the outlet reported.

A source told the Daily Mail: “Lunden has every right to be there – but it is highly unusual. Attending Hunter’s deposition would have been a strategic choice and perhaps a head game. And why not? It’s harder for most people to be untruthful about a person in their presence.”

The outlet noted further:

Hunter’s deposition lasted about seven and a half hours before his sprawling motorcade exited the Stephens Building in downtown Little Rock around 4:30 pm.

The former flames settled the case in 2019 but Hunter abruptly asked a court last year to lower the $20,000 per month in child support he pays for their adorable four-year-old daughter, Navy Joan Roberts.

Roberts, 32, refused to budge until the First Son handed over a trove of financial docs and sat for a videotaped deposition which was supposed to take place at the Arkansas office of her Donald Trump-supporting attorney, Clinton Lancaster.

“Roberts, a former DC bottle girl who once worked as Hunter’s PA, drove in unnoticed about five minutes later. She was deposed at the same high-rise office for seven hours on Wednesday,” the outlet added.

Judge Holly Lodge Meyer, who is presiding over Biden’s child support case, issued an order earlier this month requiring President Joe Biden’s son to appear at the Independence County Courthouse in Batesville on July 10.

The purpose was for Biden to provide an explanation as to why he should not be held in contempt of court after lawyers representing Roberts argued that Hunter had failed to comply with the judge’s previous order in May, which required him to disclose information regarding his financial situation, the Washington Examiner reported.

Meyer said the lawyers for Roberts were seeking, and she plans to consider, “punishment or sanctions” against Biden, including “incarceration for civil contempt until such time as the defendant fully answers discovery for a period of up to six months” and “incarceration for criminal contempt for a period of up to six months.”

The judge noted further that Hunter Biden “is hereby given notice that his ‘ability to pay’ is or may become a critical issue in the contempt proceeding” and that he “will have an opportunity at the hearing to respond to statements and questions about his financial status.” Meyer added that Biden “is subject to an express finding by the court that he has the ability to pay.”

The Examiner added:

Navy Joan Roberts, the child in question, was born in Arkansas in August 2018. She was conceived during Hunter Biden’s relationship with Hallie Biden, who is the widow of his late brother, Beau Biden. President Joe Biden has never publicly acknowledged the existence of his granddaughter in his statements during his presidency.

Initially, Hunter Biden denied paternity and claimed to have no recollection of meeting the mother at the Mpire Club in Washington, D.C. However, in January 2020, a judge ruled that DNA test results provided strong evidence indicating that Hunter is the biological father of the child.

In 2020, Hunter reached a settlement of $2.5 million with Roberts, but the case was subsequently reopened.

Mystery White Powder Sent to Kansas Republicans Also Sent to Trump, Justice Thomas

OPINION: This article may contain commentary which reflects the author’s opinion.

Authorities suspect the same person who sent a cryptic letter and mysterious white powder to dozens of Kansas state Republican lawmakers also sent one to former President Donald Trump and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

According to ABC News, which quoted unnamed officials, “Republican lawmakers in Kansas and across the nation who received them are being targeted by someone cryptically calling themselves ‘your secret despirer.’”

The report said that “since Friday, about 100 letters have been received by Kansas GOP lawmakers and Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach, who is also a Republican, officials said.”

ABC News added:

Similar letters containing a cryptic note and a “suspicious powdery substance” were addressed to former President Donald Trump, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and other high-profile individuals, though the U.S. Postal Inspection Service intercepted them before they were delivered, the sources said.

Postal inspectors have possession of the letters and have deemed them harmless, the sources said. At this point, the FBI and the U.S. Secret Service are monitoring the situation.

“There is some message. The message is somewhat unclear, but it was intended to be threatening,” Republican state Sen. Molly Baumgardner, who also received one of the letters, told ABC affiliate KMBC in Kansas City, Mo.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation, along with the FBI, are attempting to determine who sent the letters and the motive behind them.

“Kansas legislators that are Republican are being targeted,” Baumgardner told the media.

She added that the letter sent to her contained the suspicious powder and said, “It is important not to choke on your ambition.” She added that the note said referred to the contents as a “gift” and the sender referred to themself as “your secret despirer,” which derives from the word “despise.”

“Everybody has to be concerned,” Baumgardner told KMBC. “Everyone has to take this and any subsequent threats like this very seriously.”

Small samples of the powder have been sent to a lab for testing.

“Preliminary tests have returned from this lab indicating the substance is presumptively negative for common biological agents of concern,” the Kansas Bureau of Investigation said in a statement over the weekend.

“[The] Kansas Highway Patrol alerted director of Legislative Administrative Services Tom Day Friday that the letters or packages of three or four other lawmakers had been submitted for further investigation. Day told legislators the letters had return addresses in Topeka and Kansas City,” the Kansas City Star reported over the weekend.

The outlet noted further:

Rep. Samantha Poetter Parshall, a Paola Republican, said she was the sixth or seventh person to report receiving a letter to Day. She discovered the message while checking the mail with her 7-year-old son.

She thought the local address on her envelope meant it was safe to open.

“Once I read something about ‘Choking on your ambitions,’ I realized there was another piece of paper folded up inside of it and put it back together,” she told the outlet.

According to Poetter Parshall, the letter she received contained a white powder and resembled the one received by Rep. Paul Waggoner, a Hutchinson Republican. While she was unsure if all the messages were identical, she mentioned hearing that other Republican colleagues were also receiving similar letters.

“It’s possible there could be a Democrat who received once based on a voting record. But not knowing exactly what the details are, so far, I’ve only heard of Republicans receiving them,” she told The Star.

Rep. Tory Marie Blew, a Republican lawmaker from Great Bend, posted to Facebook Saturday morning that she, too, had received one of the letters.

“This is not okay,” she said in a post. “I don’t know all the details but as of now only Republican legislators have received this package.”

Biden’s Re-Election in Jeopardy After New White House Leak

OPINION: This article may contain commentary which reflects the author’s opinion.

President Joe Biden’s job approval ratings have been steadily falling in the wake of his announcement that he would seek another term, making his re-election path even narrower.

A new poll from DailyMail.com/J.L. Partners showed that 71 percent of Americans, including 49 percent of Democrats, believe Biden is too old to continue to be president. The poll also showed that 52 percent of Americans believe they are in a worse position now than they were before Biden became president.

“There are few things that unite American voters, but there is one: the belief that Biden is too old to be president,” James Johnson, one of the founders of J.L. Partners, said to the DailyMail.

“Decisive margins across all age groups, ethnic groups, and political parties agree with the sentiment. And worryingly for the current president, those most likely to say they are worse off under Biden’s policies include groups with disproportionate impact come to an election: Independent voters and 45-64-year-olds. Though he managed to avoid his age becoming a pivotal issue in 2020, it looks set to be the defining hesitation in voters’ minds next year,” Johnson said.

Another political insider has expressed the increasingly popular view that the aging President Joe Biden will not be physically or mentally capable of finishing his current term, much less a second one, should he win reelection next year.

Tudor Dixon, the GOP nominee who lost a tight race to incumbent Michigan Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer last fall, told “Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla” that members of the president’s party are circling him “like vultures” because they see his political career coming to an “end” soon.

“It’s like vultures. I really think that. I was talking about this the other day. I said it’s sort of like vultures circling him, like they know that it’s close to the end. What end? I’m not sure. Is it just the end of the presidency? Is it the end of something more? I don’t know what they think, but it really feels as though we’re being duped,” she told Failla.

She also predicted that two other Democrats would enter the race for the 2024 nominee.

“Like everybody’s going, oh, you’re running against this guy with these really low poll numbers. But then it’s like, Gavin Newsom is going to come up with Gretchen Whitmer on his arm and they’re going to come out as a team, and everybody’s going to go, yeah, I really like them. They look good,” she said.

Earlier this month, a long-time political watcher and analyst said he believes that Biden won’t make it through the upcoming primaries and will have to drop out of the race.

Hugh Hewitt made his bold prediction this week after Biden fell again — this time reportedly tripping on a sandbag placed on a stage where he had given the commencement speech to the graduating Air Force Academy class in Colorado.

“Hewitt sees the race shaping up similarly to the 1968 one when then-President Lyndon Johnson told the nation he would not seek re-election after barely winning the first Democratic primary contest,” The Western Journal reported.

Biden will be 82 on inauguration day in January 2025 if he wins re-election.

He would be 86 when his term ends. Several medical experts and other observers have repeatedly noted a significant decline in his physical and mental capabilities already and have suggested that the deterioration will only continue.

In an interview with Fox News’s Dana Perino, Hewitt was asked to respond to a puff piece published by The New York Times after Biden’s fall that acknowledged his age but essentially claimed he was still able to perform the duties of his office.

“I’m reminded of 1968. Lyndon Johnson was going to run for re-election. I think you’ll see an exit in the course of the primaries because if I am a [Machiavellian], I don’t want the president dumping out if I’m a Democrat. I don’t want Vice President [Kamala] Harris commanding the field,” Hewitt said.

He also predicted that Newsom was gearing up for a run.

“You do have [California Gov.] Gavin Newsom on the bench and warming up. He’s in the bullpen. Got a couple of other Democrats out there,” Hewitt added.

In April, Steve Forbes, chairman of Forbes Media and a former GOP presidential contender, also predicted that Biden would drop out.

CONFIRMED: Sources Say That Tucker Carlson Firing Did Have Dominion Voting Systems Tie

Variety magazine is confirming the claims that Tucker Carlson was told by an unarmed Fox Corp. board member that his firing was part of an oral agreement with Dominion Voting Systems.

“On April 26, Carlson spoke by phone with one of Fox Corp.’s eight board members, who told the host that his recent benching was a condition of Fox News’ settlement with Dominion Voting Systems, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the conversation,” Variety reported Tuesday.

“That condition was intended to hurt Fox, and Tucker is just collateral damage,” Variety quoted a source. “Dominion wanted to punish Fox, and it’s working.”

Variety claimed that the alleged Carson firing wasn’t put into writing on the settlement documents but was agreed to orally during negotiations.

The report said that Dominion had leverage to potentially back out of the deal before it is ultimately finalized in late May if Carlson was not removed from Fox News.

Dominion has of course denied any of these claims.

“The reports of our involvement with his firing are 100% false,” a Dominion spokesperson told Newsmax.

“As the Fox principals who negotiated the settlement well know, Dominion made no demands about Tucker Carlson’s employment orally or in writing. Any claims otherwise are categorically false and a thinly veiled effort to further damage Dominion.”

“Fox should take every effort to stop these lies immediately.”

Newsmax reported:

A Fox News request for comment from Newsmax has yet to be returned.

Last week, Axios reported Carlson’s attorney had written to Fox claiming the network had engaged in fraud and breached its contract with its top host.

“Carlson was told by a member of the Fox board that he was taken off the air as part of the Dominion settlement, two sources briefed on the conversation,” Axios reported.

So far Fox has yet to explain why it fired its number one rated host.

But Tucker supporters like Megyn Kelly said the network, and its PR chief Irena Briganti, have engaged in a nasty smear campaign against Carlson to make it difficult for him to find employment elsewhere.

Briganti has denied such claims.

The Tucker link to Dominion raises many concerns.

Last week, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted a possible reprimand for Dominion Voting Systems.

“If the public reporting is accurate that Dominion Voting Systems demanded that Tucker Carlson be fired as part of a litigation settlement, then I am happy that Dominion does not operate in Texas, and I don’t think that they should do so in the future,” Abbott wrote.

“We may disagree with other’s positions, but we should never try to improperly silence views contrary to our own. If Dominion wants to do business with Texas in the future, they should first answer questions about what role, if any, they played in silencing a prominent conservative journalist.”

Texas rejected the use of Dominion Voting Systems software before the 2020 election.

Newsmax also reported:

Carlson is said to remain under contract with Fox News, refusing to allow him out of his $10- plus million per year contract that would keep him from joining a cable network competitor before January 2025.

But Carlson announced last week he will be running an independent show on Twitter.

Carlson’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, is currently negotiating with Fox to allow the host to work outside the network.

Variety says if there is no resolution, Carlson is preparing for litigation and will “watch the network implode attempting to challenge free speech.”
